San Francisco Film Society Presents SFFS Film Arts Forum: Online Distribution February 9 at Mezzanine

Panel of Experts Will Expose and Explicate the Benefits and Pitfalls of the Newest Online Distribution Models for Filmmakers and Film Watchers

January 14, 2009

San Francisco, CA – The San Francisco Film Society will present SFFS Film Arts Forum: Online Distribution at 7:00 pm on Monday, February 9 at Mezzanine, 444 Jessie Street. This forum will survey, advocate and examine the latest developments in the bold new world of film distribution.
It’s no secret that online distribution is changing the shape of the film industry. From giants like YouTube, iTunes and Netflix to emerging, intriguing sites like Jaman, Crackle and Funny or Die, filmmakers are faced with a distribution landscape that’s evolving daily. The latest Film Arts Forum—the Film Society’s bimonthly information-sharing, discussion, networking, professional-development jamboree—will assemble a panel to debate, demystify and debunk online distribution in all its varying forms. Panelists include Larry Daressa, codirector of California Newsreel; Danae Ringelman, cofounder of IndieGoGo; attorney George Rush; and filmmaker Tiffany Shlain. Noted Bay Area film journalist Michael Fox will moderate. Also attending the event will be representatives from YouTube, Landmark Theatres, Wholphin, Caachi and more.

All participating panelists, representatives and Film Society staff will be available to continue the conversation throughout the evening. The SFFS Film Arts Forum is an entire conference in the span of a few hours.

Tickets $5 year-round SFFS members; $8 general; available in advance at www.sffs.org.
